Michelada Contest

Where: Henry’s House

Who: Club members and spouse, perspective members

Food: Tacos de Henry This should be a fun filled day of good beer, good food, and good friends. Please bring some finger foods (chips and salsa, guacamole…), and beers to share. You might also bring enough of your own michelada ingredients to make micheladas to share.

The Contest:

Open to all club members Contest will be in three parts. You may compete in one, two, or all parts. Each part will have its own points, rules,winner, prize, and judging (three person panel). Overall all winner will be determined by most accumulated points from all three parts. Judges will be chosen at random for parts 1 and 2 of the competition. Judges for part 3 will be chosen from the spouses present. Judges decisions are final

Part 1: The Beer (20 points) 1. Each participant will make three identical micheladas (taster size) using their own homebrew and a set amount of the club provided standard mix. 2. Judges will taste each and rank them based on how good that beer tastes in the michelada. 3. 1st place (20 points), 2nd place (18 points), 3rd place (16 points), 4th place (14 points), all others 10 points.

Part 2: Your Recipe (15 points) 1. Each participant will make three identical micheladas (taster size) using their own recipe and a set amount of a club purchased standard Mexican lager (like Modelo or Corona). 1. – You must have a minimum of three ingredients beyond your tomato base and the beer. Example: If I use a commercial mix, I will need three more ingredients like lime, salt, hot sauce, worcestershire sauce.. 2. Judges will taste each and rank them based on how good your recipe for a michelada tastes. 3. 1st place (15 points), 2nd place (14 points), 3rd place (13 points), 4th place (12 points), all others 10 points.

Part 3: The Presentation (15 points) 1. Decorate one michelada in your own full sized glass up as fancy as you want. Nothing will be too much (subject to judges decision). So have some fun with this one. 2. Judges will rank each based on how good it looks.
3. 1st place (15 points), 2nd place (14 points), 3rd place (13 points), 4th place (12 points), all others 10 points.
